Set to be released in Japan on August 23, 2014, this series of movies will be a retelling of the first story arc of the manga. It won't be focusing on the Final Stage, which the anime series is doing, where in the finale of the manga, Takumi looses to the !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! cause he wrecked into !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! . And sells the car !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!!

About damn time. The animation jumps from first to fifth stages are painful to witness. I love the series both genuinely and with an eye for parody (anytime nakazato speaks, say something mobster-like and in the voice of marlon brando, godfather style. hilarity ensues) but really the first two series are just awful with the CG and only good for rifftrax fodder at this point.

Ah, man, I just remembered I'd promised Rotarylover some pictures of the arcade near my place, in Porto Alegre, where they have Initial D and Wangan Midnight and several other awesome games.

I totally forgot bro, sorry... I'll get some when I go back there later this month.

I hope they remake this very first scene, shot for shot, and use the very same music. Because this scene is what made me watch Initial D to begin with, capturing essentially what makes the series so awesome.
